Workplace Relations

4wards Consulting has an extensive range of Workplace Relations experience, having been actively involved in the Pre and post Work Choices area, with a significant level of experience during the 1990’s, from both an Employee and Employer perspective.

The Principal Consultant, Adrian Sommerville, has a significant amount of experience attending both State and Federal industrial/workplace tribunals, attending both Conciliation Conferences and making representations at formal hearings as an advocate, representing both the Applicant and Respondent, as the situation requires.

Adrian Sommerville has conducted extensive workplace and commercial contract investigations, and has managed disputes in both informal and formal settings.

Adrian Sommerville is also a qualified Mediator, having completed the National Mediator Accreditation System (NMAS), and is a member of the Resolution Institute.

 

Business Strategy

As companies develop, particularly in the Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) sectors, lack of vital personnel can hinder growth in an economy that is experiencing a resurgence.

The option is not always available to simply recruit new staff, as often there is the requirement to recruit more than one specialist for business expansion, and the resultant cost can be significant.

4wards Consulting has a wide range of experience in undertaking Estimates/Proposals, and has worked in the Structural, Mechanical and Piping (SMP) and Electrical/Instrumentation (E&I) sectors.

4wards Consulting will review your tendering needs, and will advise which aspects can be undertaken in-house, and what aspects warrant the need for contract services.

4wards Consulting can work with you during the tender negotiation process, and assist with Project Development and Contract Management.

 

Recruitment

Recruitment can often be a minefield for business with no or little experience with recruitment processes.

Modern recruitment methods can also overlook the obvious choice of candidate strengths, partly due to the use of keyword search software applications, which, in theory, lessons the recruiter’s time needed to review each candidate, thus allowing the recruiter to work with multiple clients simultaneously.

4wards Consulting recruitment experience dates back to 1995, when software databases were the exception to the rule, and manual reviews and interviewing each candidate with potential, was the only method to qualify candidate strengths.

4wards Consulting is a licenced Recruitment Agent, and uses a database management tool to collate and store candidate details, but we still retain the tried and true method of manually screening strong candidates. It’s easy to overlook the right candidate for the role if you are not conducting the proper reviews.

4wards Consulting is not a labour hire company, therefore our fee structure is based on permanent placements only.

As part of our fee structure, 4wards Consulting provides a different approach to invoicing.

We place the candidate with you, and invoice only one third of the fee upon commencement, and the remainder of the invoice is only charged after the completion of the guarantee period.

4wards Consulting understand that even the most suitable candidate may choose to leave before the guarantee period, so we are prepared to share the risk, rather than simply offering our “best effort” to replace the candidate – we therefore place a financial undertaking on the service we offer.

 

Contract Management

Effective Contract Management can be the difference between a successful project, with satisfactory margins and client retention, or problematic issues that result in a perceived poor performance by the client.

4wards Consulting works with clients from Conception to Completion, to ensure that your project receives the support it needs to produce a desired outcome .

As an SME business grows, the opportunities to take on larger projects allows the business to experience growth, yet without the support needed to manage the contract, it can become a daunting task, particularly if the project expands and extra works are added to the contract.

One of the least thought of issues, is that the lack of cashflow and effective contract management can cause significant problems for the business, and if expansion is not managed effectively, insolvent trading can become a real possibility.
